Setelah hiruk pikuk award season diakhiri oleh Oscar kemarin, pecinta film kini kembali menggila lewat MTV Movie Award yang diselenggarakan di Los Angeles pada tanggal 13 April 2014. Kalau pada tahun-tahun sebelumnya biasanya hanya ada 14 nominasi, kini acara yang dipandu oleh Conan O'Brien menyajikan pemenang dari 16 nominasi yang berbeda.
Dengan gayanya sendiri yang nyeleneh, nominasi utama MTV Movie Award kali ini dikuasai oleh aksi Katniss di The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Kejutan datang dari nominasi Favorite Character ketika Tris dari Divergent mengalahkan Katniss (The Hunger Games) dan Loki (Thor 2) yang lebih dikenal.
